NYC Adventure Time!

Hey guys. Remember me?! I used to blog once upon a time...

My life has been a whirlwind these past few months to say the least. I've had really amazing, beautiful times that I wished would never end and I've had really terrible, ugly times that I couldn't wish to get over fast enough. But that's what makes us who we are, right? However, I think that's a blog post for another time and place, I've got a lot going on in my noggin that's begging to be written out... :)

The good news is I'm back! I'm going for a less structured schedule now - I think the main reason I stopped blogging in the first place is because I would fail making my own deadlines and become discouraged. So now, I will write posts when I feel I have something important to share with the interwebz. Quality not quantity, amiright?!

Now, for the subject at hand. I went on a little adventure to the big apple yesterday with my mother. We went in to see the play Spring Awakening; what was unique about this show though, was that it was presented in American Sign Language along with the original music. I actually took an American Sign Language class in college, so I was really intrigued to see how it would translate to the audience in conjunction with actual song and lyrics, which have a folk-rock influence.

Sunday Funday - ED SHEERAN CONCERT

Heyyy guys. I know it's been awhile and I insist on doing more than my weekend recap posts, but I just haven't been able to get myself together to do that. Ha. I swear I'm gonna do it this week though, I bought a ton of stuff shopping today (woops...) so I NEED to do a haul. Like, actually need to.

Anyway - let me get on with the weekend recap. Friday I headed down the shore again to hang with my friend. We actually planned on hitting the beach Saturday morning but while it was like 85 degrees inland, on the beach it was like 65 and windy as all hell...so, fail. ANWAY, Friday night we just headed out to downtown Asbury Park. Such a great place to chill and eat - the cutest places EVER. First we hit a Chinese-American bar/eatery called Happyness. We just nibbled on a couple snacks and had ourselves a nice little fish bowl. We got the Blue Hawaiian, which pretty much tasted like heaven. Or what I imagine Hawaii to taste like, I guess. Since Happyness didn't really have dinner-type food we headed two doors down to Talula's to grab a little pizza. It was SO delicious and they were also screening West Side Story on the wall - so wins all around really. By that time it was like 10:30 and us oldies were ready to get home and in bed, especially since the night got a little bit chilly.

MONday Funday - MDW Edition

Heyyy internet friends! Hope everyone has had a marvelous Memorial Day Weekend! Although it's lovely to have days off from work and hang out down the shore, try to keep in mind the real reason for Memorial Day and appreciate the people who dedicate their lives to the military and keeping this country safe.

Anyways, just going to do a quick weekend recap for you as I feel horrid today, sadly. :(

Friday evening I headed down the shore via a PACKED south bound train. All those bennys... (Although I am technically one, but I lived down by the beach for school for years so I'm no longer counting myself as one.) Misery. But I made it down to my friends new place in nearly no time and was ready to get the weekend started. So we walked down to Parker House in Sea Girt around 8, but there was already a cover (and we were going back the next day...), so we decided to just hang out and drink some cider at my friends. It was nice to just sit around and talk with friends. Here's a photo from the walk in Sea Girt. I thought I edited it pretty nicely.

Sunday Funday - OOTD Cas Fridays

Hey internet friends! I'm skipping the usual weekend recap post this weekend as I haven't documented or done much that would be of interest here. (I know, I know, I haven't been a good blogger these days!) Also, I figured I haven't written a fashion post in awhile and I was quite pleased with my outfit on Friday so I figured I'd throw it up here for you lovely people.

I'm calling this one my Cas Friday look. My office is quite lenient about their business casual dress code, so I'm not sure this would work for everyone that works in an office - but if you wanted you could certainly swap the jeans with white linen pants and the flip flops for flats and get more or less the same effect. :)

Sunday Funday - Outside Activities and Mother's Day

Hey guys! I know it's been awhile, but the weather has just been so nice and it's caused me to lose my mind and try to be outside as much as possible (since I'm stuck inside working most of the day.) But anyway, I'm here to recap my weekend for you. I didn't do anything too, too thrilling.

Friday I actually took off of work to take my first driving lesson! It's a little known fact about me that I cannot drive/do not have a license. But I'm finally working on it because you just cannot live in New Jersey and not drive...it's a disaster. So I am now on the roads people! It's definitely a very nerve-wracking thing for me, but now that I've actually driven a little I realize it isn't nearly as bad as I was making it out to be and I'm ready to get some practice in! So I guess that's pretty exciting.

Since it was such a beautiful day, later on I went to Stagehouse with my friends and we actually sat in their little outside area! It was so nice to be out in the bright warm sun. They had quite an interesting folk band playing...but it was a great time nonetheless.

Sunday Funday - AC & Literally Nothing Else Because I Have No Life

GUYS! I know, it's been too long since I've been up in blogland. The weather has just been so nice and I think I might lose the whole rigid schedule thing and just produce quality blog posts when I have the inspiration and time to. Especially with summer coming up - I like to get outside as much as I can. Also, I just ordered a new bike this morning so I plan on being out on it as much as possible. Getting to take in the great outdoors whilst exercising, that's a two for one! Anyway, onto my weekend recap.
Friday evening I headed down to Atlantic City with my friend Nicole to celebrate a friend's 21st birthday. We stayed at the Borgata and pre-gamed with tequila and orange juice and Ruffles, of course. Ruffles are a staple when drinking alcohol with my group of friends. Then we headed out to mur.mur pretty late for some more drinks and dancing. They played a ton of rap which was slightly disappointing at first, but as the night wore on they started playing more club and dance music. Unfortunately the only people we attracted all night were actual trolls that couldn't take no for an answer if their life depended on it. It concerns me that men think they can just touch any person they want to, like just because a woman is in the club it doesn't mean she wants her personal space to be invaded by you, uninvited. (I am JUST sayin!) Aside from a few creepers - it was a great night! I'm not a huge partier and I don't go out and super late too often, but I like to make the most of it when I do.

Fashion Friday - Concert #OOTD

Heyyy guys! Happy Friday! But more important, the Bruce Jenner interview is on tonight. Is anyone else literally counting down the hours? Or am I the only totally buying into this media sensation? I'm such a sucker for anything Kardashian related... But like, what if the rumors aren't real? What if it's just a random interview with Bruce Jenner? I'm just dying to know. I'm pathetic, I know. Hahaha.

Anyway, the real reason for this post. Going to detail my outfit for the concert last weekend. :)

Tunes Tuesday - From Passion Pit to Marian Hill

Re-named today's title since it's taking the place of Music Monday. :P Anyway, just going to do a short playlist post - as I didn't sleep well last night and I'm quite tired this evening after working all day. *yawn*

Lifted Up (1985) - Passion Pit
I've loved Passion Pit for quite some time now, ever since I heard "Cuddle Fuddle" I was pretty much hooked. Their (or his? I feel like it's mainly one guy...) new album just dropped today and it's called Kindred. Lifted Up (1985) is one of the singles off of this album and I can't get enough! Actually, as I'm writing this I'm just listening to the song on repeat. I love the electronic component of their music, it's so different and makes you feel good. It's so intense and uplifting. "Carried Away" is another favorite from them. They're perfect to listen to in the summer!
Favorite Lyric; "Feel as though there's nothing up there, but one day you came out of nowhere."

The Fool - Ryn Weaver
I also love Ryn Weaver quite a bit as well, I actually wrote about her other big hit "OctaHate" on here earlier. I love that she has an alternative kind of sound, mixed with electronic/synth sounds like the previous. Kind of on the same wavelength as Passion Pit with a bit more of a pop vibe. This song is a little bit more powerful than "OctaHate," I love the message behind this song and it's definitely pretty relatable. Everyone has been a fool for someone. Sadly, myself included. Guilty!
Favorite Lyric; "You chase me while I play the clown, but then you know."

No Filter - Hit The Lights
I know I wrote about Hit The Lights yesterday but I can't not mention this song. I've been listening to it non-stop since I first heard it (aka Sunday...) It's just SO good. In fact this whole album "Summer Bones" is just really, really great. I'm so glad I found out they have a newer album out! This song is definitely my favorite off of the album though. The lyrics are great and I just can't help but sing along and bob my head. It reminds me of all the alternative/pop-punk I used to listen to when I was in high school and I love the nostalgia it initiates. Two thumbs up!
Favorite Lyric; "For every night I slept myself sick wondering what I did; this is goodbye, I hope you f*cking choke on it."

Got It - Marian Hill
I'm actually not even sure how to describe or categorize this song. It's definitely on the electronic side as well (guess that's the theme I got goin' on today.) iTunes is describing it as alternative - so I'm going to say it's alternative/electronica. It's such a different vibe but I really love it. I've heard it on a few Spotify playlists and then I kept hearing it on the commercial for that new Nicholas Sparks movie The Longest Ride, which inspired me to save it to my "recent" playlist so I can jam to it any time I please! Give it a try!
Favorite Lyric; "You want to know, but it can't be tied. You want to steal, cause I can't be bought."

I hope you enjoy this week's playlist! I'll be back later this week with a fashion post and some sort of beauty post...gonna have to brainstorm that. Hope everyone has a great rest of the week though!

Funday Monday - Hit The Lights & Cartel Concert

Hellooo people! I missed my post yesterday because I was in NYC seeing Hit The Lights and Cartel at Gramercy Theatre. So, I am here today to tell you all about it! As well as recap my weekend for you a bit.

So Friday evening I went to dinner with my friends at where else, but Stagehouse. I've actually gone as far as to just abbreviate it to SH. I didn't even bother taking pictures because I wasn't sure I could even manage to shove a picture of nachos in front of your faces again. Long story short, a delicious time was had by all. I also had a pomegranate margarita that made my eyes twitch. Apparently tequila has that effect on me? Whatcanyado.

Saturday it was absolutely GORGEOUS out. Like 80 degrees. It was pretty much a dream for me. I wore no sleeves and I was actually hot. Like, sweating and everything. It was the greatest thing I've experienced this year thus far. Yes, I am saying that I enjoyed sweating. That's just how terrible this winter has been. I just went out and ran some errands with my mother and hit Old Navy to get inexpensive denim jackets, since I've had mine for God knows how many years and it was starting to look green. Ew. I was able to snag a child sized one that was only $19, perks of being a miniature person. And one regular size one since I couldn't find the dark wash in kids sizes... #pathetic

Then Sunday was the day to see Hit The Lights and Cartel. Cartel is doing a 10 year anniversary tour for their album Chroma. That album was more or less my life when I was about 15 so there was no way I was missing out on that! I headed out to the city, which was absolutely disastrous. I Uber-ed myself to the train station closest to my house only to find out that there were 30-45 minute delays and then substitute busing...it was bizarre to say the least. So I had to quickly get a different Uber over to where my friend was taking the train in to get on a mode of transportation that made sense. I told the Uber driver I needed to get there in like 15 minutes and he miraculously made it happen and I got on the train JUST as it was arriving in the station. Thank goodness I actually made it! The anxiety struggle was SO real. Once we got to the city we grabbed some dinner/lunch at this cute bar called Taproom. The nachos came on like, a piece of tree which I thought was hipster as hell. It was a cute little place. A bit expensive, but that's the city for ya!

After some strolling about and stopping in a Starbucks and Duane Reade we finally went over to the concert, grabbed some Angry Orchard's and settled in to wait for the bands. Two bands came on before Hit The Lights and Cartel. The first band was Driver Friendly, and I quite liked them. Fun, pop-punk kind of music. Although the keyboard player was thrashing his head so much I was almost certain he was going to smash it on his keyboard. He didn't. But it was pretty damn close. Next was a band called TEAM* that my friend and I weren't too fond of, they were a little too alternative for our taste. However, it turned out that the lead singer was actually a member of an older band, Forever The Sickest Kids. So, that was interesting about them at least. Then finallyyy, Hit The Lights came on, which I was obviously pretty excited for. The lead singer, Nick Thompson is one of the hottest people possibly ever. He has that whole package of being a musician and being in great shape. Can't lose with that. They played some new songs, which led me to discover that their new album is really legit. I've been listening to it all day! They also played some old classics that were great to hear as well. I was really happy to finally get to see them.

Cartel played their entire album Chroma, and it was actually being streamed online as well via Yahoo, which I thought was pretty cool. Although I've loved Cartel for quite some time, I've actually never seen them live, so I was really grateful to be able to see them playing their older music that I used to live and breathe. The lead singer, Will, sounds just as amazing live as he does on recordings, which I think says a lot about the band. I was seriously so excited to be a part of this tour! It went far beyond my expectations and got me super pumped for all the concerts I'll be going to this summer! PS I also made both these YouTube videos on my iMovie - wanted to combine all my clips into something cute for you! Hope you like em!

That's it for my weekend, I'll be doing my Music Monday post tomorrow and we'll just be a day behind on our schedule for this week. I'm also planning on doing a post on the outfit I wore to the concert later this week as well. I have a lot of good stuff planned for this week! :) Have a great one guys!

Beauty Wednesday - VS PINK Skin Products

You guys. I did it. I'm getting up a beauty post this week! *Pats self on back* Carrying on...  I mentioned in my post on Sunday that I bought a couple beauty/skin products from Victoria's Secret Pink that I was going to try out and possibly share with you all. Being that they're so cute and I actually like them, I'm here to follow through with that.

Playing around with editing photos - I hope that doesn't look like a kindergarten's first creation...

First up, is the Pink Coconut Oil Sheer Cooling Spray Lotion
I've been wanting to try a spray lotion for awhile now, since I literally can't begin my day unless I moisturize after my shower. However, keeping your skin moisturizer is quite time consuming. My main goal with the spray lotion was to cut back on my time getting ready for work. I mean, we all need all the sleep we can get, am I right?! The other benefit of this spray lotion is that it has coconut oil, which I have previously mentioned is the nectar of the Gods. Well, maybe not, but I think it's pretty darn amazing. Naturally, I love the smell of this product, smells like I belong on a tropical island. I've been using this lotion every day this week and I definitely think it helps to save time, the coconut oil keeps me moisturized, and it makes my skin smell good. These are all wins in my opinion! The only downside I would highlight is that my spray nozzle gets a little stuck and difficult to spray, besides that I completely recommend this product. I already know I'm going to re-purchase since the scent is so summery and exotic and summer is actually now in sight!

Pink Coconut Oil Conditioning Hair & Body Oil
While I love the spray lotion, I think the better of the two is the hair and body oil. As I said before I LOVE coconut oil, but putting pure coconut oil in your hair, while being super beneficial, is a royal pain in the ass to wash out. Anddd, for that reason I thought this spray oil was a fantabulous idea. I also love the fact that you can use it on both your hair and your skin. My friend and I actually sprayed it on our hair while we were in the store and it definitely has a softening effect, as well as the same tropical smell as the lotion! For someone like me, who doesn't wash their hair more than twice a week, it's good to have a product that softens and freshens hair in between washes. (I still use my dry shampoo as well though!) Once I got home I sprayed it on my arms before we went out to soften the skin (since I hadn't moisturized since the morning) and it makes the skin REALLY soft. My arms felt seriously silky after this stuff. I'm not going to sit here and claim that it lasts until infinity and it's a miracle worker, but as a refresher for your hair and skin alike, it's a total winner in my book. Victoria's Secret also does a lot of sales when buying 2 or 3 beauty products, so you're bound to be able to get some kind of deal on these whenever you want to purchase. :) Double thumbs up.

So there you have it, a long overdue beauty post! I hope you enjoy and my reviews may possibly help you when you're out there at the mall wondering what you should purchase. Also, now that it's so nice out I may even have a fashion post up my sleeve for later this week! It's now kimono season, and they are my absolute favorite. We shall see. :) Hope everyone has a great one! Positive vibes only.

Music Monday - From Alesso to Syd Youth

Happy Monday blog friends! It was like 76 degrees in New Jersey today. I could hardy believe it. I wore short sleeves and I wasn't cold. Miracles really do happen, people. I was about as happy as ever. Or as happy as one could be on a Monday. Anyway, let's get on with this week's playlist. Really stoked to share this week's choices.

Cool - Alesso & Roy English
I'm actually really surprised I haven't mentioned this song earlier, I've been pretty obsessed with it for awhile now. Something about this song just screams summer and it makes me happier than a kid in a candy store. I'm not a huge fan of this EDM craze that seems to have come (and maybe passed?) but I love a good dance jam every now and again. Not to mention this Roy English (who's British - because honestly I can't be obsessed with someone unless they're British) has a really amazing voice. Just love everything about this song, from the beat to the lyrics.
Favorite Lyric; "Acting like a fool, I wanna scream it from the roof. I'm tryna keep it cool, but I can't keep cool about it."

Hypnotize Me - Taylor Berrett
Taking it a completely different direction here, I have a kind of folk/country song. Apparently this Taylor Berrett artist is so exclusive he doesn't even have a Wikipedia page! So, I'm going to categorize this as folk/country myself, I'm not completely sure, but let's go with that. It's so catchy and uplifting. I actually heard this song on the "Sunny Side Up" playlist on Spotify, which I like to listen to in the morning to get myself in a good mood for the day. In any event, this song is catchy, Taylor has a great voice, and you will want to dance around your room (house, apartment, shack, what have you) to this.
Favorite Lyric; "You said, 'don't hide your sorrow, the blood you bled. We were made to break so somebody could fix us again.'"

Bitch Better Have My Money - Rihanna
Can't not mention this song, it's just too good. I mean, if you have a radio I'm 110% you've heard this song. But, every now and again I like to listen to some music that makes me feel gangster as hell. Rihanna is just a boss most of the time and I have to give her props for that. I love to put this song all the way up with my headphones on. I highly suggest it, the beat gets pretty trippy, especially towards the end of the song.
Favorite Lyric; "Pay me what you owe me, don't act like you forgot."

Smoke n' mirrors - Syd Youth
Again, going in a completely different direct genre-wise, we have this sort of pop-ballad. I just heard this song for the first time today and I think it's really powerful. Syd Youth is composed of three female singers, and I think their voices blend beautifully, it's very evident in this song. I feel like a lot of the time these days singers depend mainly on their music and editing, but you can tell that these singers are just genuinely good, which is what made me listen to this song over and over again the first time I heard it. I have a feeling this group will be all over the radio very soon.
Favorite Lyric; "There's no good time for me to tell you what's up. Put your hand in mine, I think you've been through enough. Feel me now."

And that's this week's playlist! I hope you enjoyed my array of genres this week. I really try to highlight all different types of music so there's something for everyone! I'd also just like to say I've listened to "Cool" like 8 times while writing this post. I just really can't get enough! I hope you enjoyed and I'll be back tomorrow (or at the very least sometime this week before Saturday...) with a beauty inspired post, I have a couple new things to share!

Sunday Funday - The Newsroom & Asbury Park

Hellooo my good internet friends! I'm back with a Sunday Funday post. (Told you I'd never miss out on doing these!) OH! You might have also noticed that the blog got a little facelift! Now that I have more content and some followers I decided there was more I needed out of my layout. I absolutely love this pre-made one that I chose from 17thAvenueDesigns on Etsy. If you're looking for a layout or anything along those lines I completely recommend her, she has tons of extras available for your blog as well. :)

I had a great weekend as the weather FINALLY decided to cooperate, which lifted my spirits more than words can express. I hope wherever you are, that you had a great weekend as well! Here goes the recap.

Friday nights I generally don't do much, as I'm usually pretty tired from the work week. And this particular week I missed out on a lot of sleep so I was exhausted. I'm sure most of you have heard that HBO finally launched their standalone streaming service entitled "HBO Now," which I've been looking forward to for I don't know how long. I'm a huge fan of the shows The Newsroom and Girls, however, I didn't really fancy spending 50 or so extra dollars to have HBO on my cable package so I've been pretty far behind! Trying to stream them online is sadly futile, so I usually wait until I can buy the season on iTunes. So Friday night I began my HBO Now account and finally finished The Newsroom. Anddd... I was crying. Like a baby. I'm still shocked that they didn't move forward with this show. It's one of the best shows I've seen lately and I think it's an absolute shame it had to end so suddenly. The characters were so well-developed that I truly felt compassion for them and genuinely cared about their stories. If there's any HBO series I could recommend, it would be The Newsroom. It's only 4 seasons, and the 4th season is only 6 episodes. The first month of HBO Now is free too, so you can watch the whole thing for no money at all! (If you wish to continue to subscribe, it's $14.99 a month.)

Saturday I spent the day grabbing lunch and shopping with two of my best friends. I only purchased some yoga pants and skin products from Victoria's Secret. (Which I will likely be mentioning in my comeback post of Beauty Tuesday this week! Lord willing I get my sh*t together with this blog. Lol.) VS yoga pants/leggings just do something special to the booty, I don't know what it is but they're the only ones I will ever wear and I love them. We had lunch at Cheesecake Factory, which is just always delicious. I mean, how can you go wrong with a place that has like a 19 page menu? We recently discovered that the nachos there are pretty amazing too, I highly recommend.

Saturday evening we headed down to Asbury Park to hit up one of our favs Johnny Mac's. We went relatively early, as we were just looking to grab a beer (cider for me, please!) and sit down. This place is the best because you get a ticket for a free little pizza with each drink you buy! Yummy. They also have a little downstairs area with skeeball, cause, who doesn't love skeeball?! We had a great time. Please excuse the awful quality photos - they looked a whole lot better on my iPhone. :/

Then today I did some shopping with my mom. We headed out to Harmons. You know that's my weakness, but I stayed pretty strong and managed not to buy THAT much stuff. Only essentials! However, sh*t got real in DSW when I found the perfect backpack. I've been wanting a cute backpack for awhile now. I don't know what it is about them, I just think they're so fashion forward and cute. The one I found was Steve Madden and $70. Original price was $90, so I guess I got lucky, but I still cringed at spending $70 on a pretty small backpack. I've been trying to save money so hard lately! I've been doing better than I was before, but this backpack set me back a pretty penny, but I knew I would regret it if I left the store without it, and so, now it is mine. :)

From Harmons I just got the new L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara, NYX Pore Filler Primer, 2 colored Wet N Wild Mega Liners (Teal and Plum), a small Tide to Go Pen and a new brush organizer. (My old one had a hole in the back for some odd reason and all my brushes would fall out time and time again. I don't know, it makes no sense to me either.)

And there you have it, that's my weekend for ya! I hope everyone has a lovely rest of Sunday and I will be back tomorrow with this week's playlist. :)

Fearful Friday - Things I'm Afraid To Tell You

So I've been struggling with what else to write about this week, since I've obviously failed at doing a beauty post. Literally, I just forgot all about it. It's hard to get excited to write about products that aren't new! As I've mentioned before, I've been trying to save money for a vacation this summer with my mom, so no new and exciting products to write about.

However, I've thought about doing a little series of all my favorite essential beauty products, from moisturizers, to face washes, to mascara and blush. Perhaps I'll stop being lazy and get a handle on that soon! I've just been in a funk lately because the weather is STILL cold. They keep saying it will be 70 and it never is, it's just cloudy, wet and cold. It's gotten to the point where it's actually making me depressed and all I can think about is getting home to my bed. I have no motivation to be productive in any way. Please pray New Jersey gets an ACTUAL spring soon!

Anyway, I'm going to be writing a bit of a personal post inspired by Two Thirds Hazel. She posted "Things I'm Afraid To Tell You" today and I immediately felt inspired. I don't often like to write about my personal life on here, but every now and again I find it therapeutic. Here goes nothin'!

- I don't have a five year/ten year/any year plan actually and it scares the CRAP out of me. I always imagined by 25 I'd have the rest of my life planned out. (I have 6 months until I'm 25, maybe I'll figure it out within these next 6 months. JKLOL)

- My anxiety holds me back quite a bit, the possibility of failing at something I try is almost too much for me bear. I have so many ideas and plans that I often don't follow through with because I don't know if they'll work out.

- I judge people far too harshly. It's something I really try to work on, and try to remind myself everyone has been through different experiences and taught different things. There are so many different people in this world, not everyone has the same mindset that I do.

- Sometimes I would just rather stay at home and watch Netflix with my cat than go out and be surrounded by drunks at a crowded bar. (Especially so in the winter... which has apparently lasted until April. Lovely.)

- I'm afraid I may never find the right person for me. Or even worse, I've already let them go.

- I have just recently realized that I don't think I believe in God. I have always had something against organized religion, mostly because I have met many "religious" people that seem to portray the exact opposite of what they preach. I know this certainly doesn't ring true for everyone that is religious, and if that's something you're passionate about, than so be it! For me, it just isn't something I can be into.

- I don't take my health seriously at all. And I wish I did. I hate going to the doctor, I don't eat nearly as balanced a diet as I should, and I rarely exercise. I always have these ideas that I'm going to finally get on the ball, but my laziness always wins that battle.

- I have an actual obsession with my phone. I press the home button just about every 15 minutes while I'm at work to check if anyone has texted, snapped, tweeted, etc. I hate that I have this attachment to something so superficial. What's even worse is that I've tried several times to become less attached and I haven't been successful yet.

- I don't think I'm GREAT at anything. I don't feel that I have one particular skill that I'm extremely confident about. I think I have a good fashion sense, I'm good at my makeup, I'm a good writer, I'm a good conversationalist, I take good pictures, I sing good...but I'm not great at any of these things.

- I find emotions to be one of the scariest things in the world to me. Emotions and feelings are just all so uncertain. People change their minds all the time, myself being one of them. This is why I find relationships to be so treacherous sometimes, how can you make commitments when you don't necessarily know where life will take you and what you'll experience and how that will change you? Life is wild ride people.

These are just the fears that came to my fingers when I sat down to blog tonight. There's so much more swimming around in this little head of mine. Please make sure you check out Two Third Hazel's post and write a post of your own if you so desire! Releasing your fears out into the world is strangely freeing. Have a great weekend guys!

Music Monday - From Ariana Grande to All Time Low

Happy Monday beautiful people. The sun is shining and it's supposed to get up to 70 degrees today. That's pretty much a dream for me at this point so I'm as happy as a clam. :) Besides the fact that it's Monday...Mondays aren't fun. Especially when you didn't sleep well the night before. BUT, let's look on the bright side, shall we?

Adore - Cashmere Cat & Ariana Grande
It's fitting that this song is called Adore, because, well, I adore it. I'm sure it's been established here but I'm a huge fan of Ariana Grande. I think she has a great voice and she's just so darn cute! But anyway, for this song she's teaming up with Cashmere Cat, who she's actually worked with before. They have a song together on Ariana's album called Be My Baby. (Also a great song.) Cashmere Cat is a Norwegian DJ. He's gained recent popularity working with Ariana Grande, Jeremih, and Lana Del Rey, to name a few. If you don't know Cashmere Cat now - I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot from him in the future!
Favorite Lyric; "You look at me and say 'love, are you real?' Just don't pretend you're just a friend."

See You Again - Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth
Okay, so not gonna lie, I just heard this song for the first time this morning. But, it's SO GOOD. I've always been a pretty big Wiz Khalifa fan, however I've never listened to Charlie Puth before. He has a fantastic voice and I love the blend of smooth singing with rapping. It turns out Charlie Puth is a young singer who gained popularity from Youtube and a little help from Ellen DeGeneres. He's also from New Jersey. (Wudduppp.) So that's cool. This song is from the Fast & Furious 7 soundtrack too. Haven't seen the movie yet but I've heard good things!
Favorite Lyric; "We've come a long way from where we began. Oh, I'll tell you about it when I see you again."

Tidal Waves - All Time Low & Mark Hoppus
If you were like me in high school then this song will bring you right back to 17 years old. I loveee it. And the fact that Mark Hoppus from blink is on it makes it 10 times better. It's very similar to the All Time Low music from like, 2007. I love the angsty teen lyrics. Makes me feel like I'm getting ready to watch Laguna Beach all over again. Hahaha
Favorite Lyric; "Why don't you think before you speak? Cause you don't know me at all."

Trouble - Iggy Azalea & Jennifer Hudson
I mostly just like this song cause of Jennifer Hudson. She has such an amazing voice. The music and the beat are pretty great too...Iggy, not so much. She's not my favorite, but the song is catchy enough and I find myself bobbing my head along to it while I'm at work. And of course every girl can relate to wanting someone that seems like trouble. I mean Taylor Swift wrote a song about it too...the goat remix of that song is the best. With the goat yelling. I hope you people out there know what I'm referring too.
Favorite Lyric; "Cause most guys only want one thing, but I'm undecided tryna figure out if that's you."

So that's this week's playlist. Hope you enjoy or find some new tunes you didn't know about before. Have a great rest of the week! I'll be back at some point with a beauty post of sorts!

Sunday Funday - Easter Weekend!

Happy Easter everyone! I hope everyone has had a great day with their families! And a great weekend besides that!

Friday night I went down to Asbury Park with my best friend to one of our favorite bars Porta. (Which is also a pizzeria that is quite delicious.) We spent most of the night hanging out at the bar drinking some AO's. (Angry Orchards) Despite attracting a couple of middle-aged weirdos in the beginning of the night, the night as a whole ended up being pretty decent. Haaa. We spent quite a lot of time people watching and even saw someone get kicked out by security. Although we're not quite sure why, he did seem pretty belligerent for a good portion of the night. Fun times! Hahaha. Going out down the shore is the best once the weather starts permitting. :)

Saturday I finally got around to dying my Easter eggs! I bought the cutest little kit from Target for $5! It came with so much stuff I didn't even use it all. I liked getting a little creative with these. I think they turned out perfect - I was really pleased!

Saturday evening we went to go get our first facials in the city. Everything started out well and I quite liked the facial for the most part. However, they pick at any imperfection in your face to clear out your pores - I don't particularly like that. (My friend I went with really enjoyed that, so it's all personal preference! I'm not trying to be down on facials as a whole. I hear they're really great for your skin regularly.) I have always been taught not to pick pimples to prevent bacteria getting in and infecting them. They also put a face mask over my eyes so I couldn't see for 15 minutes, wasn't too thrilled about that either. So, I'm not too happy about all the little red blemishes I have from them picking in my pores, but I'm sure they'll go away in a few days and I'll be fine. Perhaps facials just aren't for me. I'll stick to my little Glamglows for now!

Then obviously today is Easter! I'm not a very religious person, nor is my family, but I do enjoy a reason to get together and have a nice meal and catch up with my family. My mom made a fantastic lasagna and we had quite a feast. Then mini eclairs and cream puffs for dessert! And of course Peeps and Cadbury eggs, because what would Easter be without them?!

So that's my weekend recap for you! I'll be back tomorrow with my weekly playlist. I'm going to try to brainstorm a beauty favorites post for this week as well, since I haven't been too successful in the past weeks with them. I've been trying to save money for a vacation this summer, so I haven't been buying anything new! I guess perhaps I'll just have to talk about stuff I already know and love. We'll see. :) Have a great Monday tomorrow everyone!

Music Monday - From Who Is Fancy to Tobias Jesso Jr.

Happy Monday to my little slice of the internet! While it is Monday, the most dreaded day of the week, the sun is shining and it isn't 20 degrees outside and that is a reason to smile people. Spring just may be in sight, however I don't wanna get presumptuous because who actually knows with this weather... Anyway we're here for some music so let's get down to it.

We've got quite an array of genres today, I'm all over the place, just go with it.

Goodbye - Who Is Fancy
Chances are you've probably heard this song on the radio, but I felt I had to mention it because I've been personally identifying with and jamming out to it these days. But seriously, WHO IS FANCY?! I thought this was a joke and then I googled it so I could actually know what I'm talking about and it turns out that no one actually knows who Fancy is. (Do I capitalize that or...?) This is wild. Does anybody think he/she/they sound exactly like Ne-Yo though? Cause that's just how I'm feeling. Anyway, if you're seeing someone that's not treating you like the royalty you are, you should probably just say goodbye. As the song is telling you. It speaks the truth.
Favorite Lyric; "I know that I can find somebody. You won't ever find nobody else like me."

Ain't Got Time - M.O
Guys, this song is just, it really should be everyone's anthem honestly. It's an upbeat dance/pop song. (Also I did not realize this was more than one person until I watched the video just now...) They're pretty much just saying they don't have time for people that don't have time for them. And that's the way all relationships should be honestly. If you aren't getting what you give in any kind of relationship; friendship, romantic, otherwise - maybe you should re-evaluate that. And tell them you ain't got time.
Favorite Lyric; "I ain't got time to care about people that don't care about me. So there's a reason why I can't, now is that so hard to understand?"

How Could You Babe - Tobias Jesso Jr
This is where we take a little bit of an indie turn. This song is absolutely AMAZING. The very first time I heard it (on Spotify, where else?!) I was captivated. I had to listen to it ten times in a row. I honestly couldn't get enough. Tobias Jesso Jr is a Canadian musician, and this song gained popularity after Adele tweeted about it. It's actually a very sad song (if you couldn't tell by the title) but it's just so beautiful. It's piano-based and just so, so great. If you don't like this song I'm pretty sure you're soulless.
Favorite Lyrics; "And when love is in the way, you gotta say, 'I guess love ain't always right.'"

Can't Blame a Girl For Trying - Sabrina Carpenter
Anddd then we'll travel on to some country music, because why not? Although I will say that this is country, erring more on the side of pop. Kind of like early Taylor Swift circa 2005. This song is just so catchy and I'm pretty sure every girl on the planet can relate to it (doing/saying dumb things when they like someone...), so there's that. It turns out Sabrina Carpenter is one of the stars of Disney Channel's Girl Meets World, she's very young, only 15, but with a Disney Channel background I'm sure she has a bright and successful future ahead of her. (Kinda hope she doesn't pull a Miley though.) Funny thing about that, as I'm reading her Wikipedia page it turns out she placed third place in a singing contest run by Miley Cyrus called "The Next Miley Cyrus Project." Hahaha. Didn't even plan that. Anyway, it's a cute, pop/country song that is bound to be stuck in your head.
Favorite Lyric; "And I think sometimes I tend to be my own worst enemy. And maybe someday I'm gonna catch a shooting star falling out of the blue, doing what I do."

So that's this week's fun little playlist! I hope you enjoyed my random little list of current favorite tunes. I'll be back tomorrow (or at least some point in this week) with some beauty favorites. Have a great night/day/afternoon - whatever it is where you are! :)

Sunday Funday - Demolishing Nachos & Interior Designing

Well hellooo there internet friends! So, I just totally dropped the ball on blogging last week; I didn't feel like I had anything to write about. But I've been brainstorming all weekend, so I think we're good for this upcoming week. I won't disappear again, promise! Although I just realized I don't have an outfit of the week to share this week and that kinda bums me out...I need to get back on my A game here people.

Friday night I stayed in and watched a movie with my mom on Netflix. We watched "And So It Goes." It starred Diane Keaton (whom I love - I mean how could you not?!) and Michael Douglas. I was actually surprised by how good this movie was! You know the quality of movies on Netflix is generally pretty subpar... The main story is about a grandfather who happens to fall into having to take care of his granddaughter (whom he didn't even know existed until she showed up) and him starting an unexpected romantic relationship with one of his neighbors. It was a cute, feel good movie and both my mother and I really enjoyed it. I recommend it!
Also, I did finally finish Paper Towns and I have to say that I absolutely ADORED the ending. I was very near to tears, in a good way that is! I couldn't be more excited about the film coming out. But now I need a new book to read, anybody out there have any suggestions?!

Saturday night I finally reunited with one of my most favorite places ever, Stagehouse obviously. It had been so long since we had nachos we pretty much all almost died. Like, actually. I also got fish and chips which apparently just turned out to be a pretty giant slab of fish and a ton of fries...but I mean I won't complain. And while we were going ham on all the food we got dessert too. We truly gained about 10 pounds each that night...

But seriously how good does that all look?! NO RAGRETS.

Since I don't have an #ootw maybe I'll just do a #motw (makeup of the week)... this is the face I put on for my Stagehouse date. (Aka a date with my best friends cause I'm out here single as fuhhh.) I'm not quite sure why my eyes are always red these days, so I guess that's just the way it is. But on my eyes I just wore MAC Paint Pot in Painterly, L'Oreal Infallible Super Slim liquid eyeliner and L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara. On my face I wore NYX BB Cream in Nude, NYX Dark Circle Concealer in Medium, NYX Concealer Wand in Porcelain, and the Kat Von D Light + Shade contour kit. (Just bronzed my cheeks and temples though, I ain't got time for all dat.) Anddd lastly, on my lips is Too Faced Melted lipstick in Melted Fig. Figured I'd wear a dark lip while it's still cold and I still can!

I also want to share with you my favorite new purchase from none other than Hobby Lobby. If you are lucky enough to have a Hobby Lobby in your vicinity...than you are just lucky. I love that place. Nothing inspires me to decorate the shit out of my future home more. In the meantime though I'll just work with the space I got, aka my room in my mom's house...

Of course, I am talking about that cute little "goodnight" canvas hanging above my bed. I really think I missed my calling as an interior designer, because I saw that sign and decided to literally re-do my entire room and color scheme according to that one painting. (Which will probably happen in the near future!) I definitely still entertain the idea of doing the schooling and training to do become one...but it's so hard to become successful in that career path. I don't know. Life is hard, ya know?

Anywaaay, that's my little weekend recap for you. I'll be back tomorrow with some new music favorites - I finally have a few collected up to share! I hope everyone enjoys what's left of their Sunday. Positive vibes for the week ahead!

Sunday Funday - #OOTW & iPhone 6

Hello peopleee. So I think I've just decided that Sunday Funday is just going to include #ootw's - because I've failed to make that a separate post for weeks now. This method should work a little bit better, I never miss a Sunday Funday! (Mostly because I have work the next day so I will almost always be home on a Sunday night...lol.) Anyway, I don't have a terribly exciting weekend recap to share with you but I'll get started!

Friday it snowed...yes, on the first day of spring. I found this terribly ironic of mother nature and I didn't really appreciate it. Sooo needless to stay I got home from work and immediately got into my pj's. No shame. I cozied in and read most of Paper Towns by John Green. Absolutely fantastic book (not that I'd expect anything less from John Green - Looking for Alaska is my favorite book on this planet) and I cannot even wait for the movie! Wondering how Cara Delevingne's acting debut will be. Her American accent sounds pretty on point.

Saturday I did something relatively cool though (for me anyway...) I got a new phone! My upgrade wasn't actually until this October and thinking about dealing with my dying-every-other-minute phone until then was beginning to give me hives. The good news was Best Buy would upgrade my phone if I switched over to a Verizon Edge plan (which turned out to lower my family's bill, woo!) And I get to trade my phone at 18 months instead of 24. Although I pray this new phone lasts much better than my old one. Haha. I got this amazing case there as well, SO SPARKLY. It's the 24 Karat Gold Case by Case-Mate. It's a bit pricey but I ended up getting it free essentially, since I got $50 giftcard during this whole new phone thing. :)

This morning I made pancakes. Or actually, I just made one large pancake because I have no self-control and just kept pouring. This is not significant in any way, but I took a cute picture that seemed blog-worthy and am thus sharing it with you all! Also it was not nearly as burnt as it appears here, honestly. I swear - I don't enjoy ingesting charred pancake.

I saved the best for last! #OOTW time! I wore this today out to lunch with my lovely mother.

Sweater - H&M (I actually think I mentioned this sweater on the blog before - it's so warm and comfy!)

Tank top - Francesca's Collection

Boyfriend Jeans - American Eagle Outlet

Boots - Ugg (Bailey Button short in Chestnut)

And that's all I got for this Sunday Funday post! Gonna settle in to watch me some Kardashians and Revenge for the night. Hope everyone has a great Monday! Try to stay as positive as one can on a Monday morning. :)

Beauty Tuesday (On a Wednesday) - Ulta Matte Lip Creams

Hellooo dolls. Yes, we are a day behind on the schedule this week. Sorry about that! Please refer to yesterday's post to see what a trying week it's been so far for me. Lol. But I'm fine now, thank the good lord. And here to bring you a beauty fav! I know I usually like to mention two or three products but I really only have one this week (that I quite love might I add!) in two colors. So that counts, right? :)

Ulta Matte Lip Cream
So I have to admit that I only bought these because Casey Holmes (aka itsbl0ndie) did a video on them, otherwise I would have never known of their existence. BUT, thank god I do because they're just wonderful! I actually only decided to try these out because I had to order my favorite liquid eyeliner from Ulta and needed to spend $50 to get free shipping. (You know how you just HAVE to do that? It feels useless if you don't!) These bad boys are $9 a piece, which I think is a bargain. There's a lot of product in them and one application literally lasts you all day. I put mine on before I left for work at 8 and it was still on (for the most part - I did eat and drink during the day) when I left at 5PM! My only problem with these is that they do take quite a bit to dry to matte, I'd say about 10 minutes, and with a darker color it's kind of hard as it can get messy if you aren't just sitting there with your mouth open waiting for it to dry. Which is both hard and awkward to do. Lol. I have not yet worn Tender (pictured below) but it's more of a neutral color so I imagine it will be great for spring and summer! Provided spring/summer EVER arrive in the New Jersey...

Also, as I've mentioned before, I'm quite pale, so I wanted to show a picture displaying the darker color on a lighter complexion. Personally, I think darker colors look better on paler skin - they stand out more. Just in case any pale gals out there are nervous about dark lip colors. :)

And that's this week's beauty post for you! I'm trying to spend less money so I'm going to have to brain storm about all of my products to figure out which ones to share with you... Lord knows even without buying new ones all the time I have a ton to share. I haven't even touched the products I got in that Birchbox special from Gilt! That's an idea... Anyway, hope everyone had a good hump day and a great rest of the week. We're almost there you guys! :) Enjoy!
