Surprise Saturday - Snow Day Sweater #OOTW

Yes, yes, yes, I'm a little late here with my fashion post - but I couldn't forget about it this week!

For this week's #ootw I chose a really casual, comfy outfit. My inspiration was my snow day on Tuesday. :) Speaking of, we're supposed to get more snow on Monday! Winter has been killing the northeast these past couple years. Yuck.

Anyway onto the look, which I'm calling Snow Day Sweater.

Sweater - H&M
This sweater may or may not be the best thing that's ever happened to me. Seriously it is SO WARM. I wore it to work one day and I was actually sweating, I had to take it off. So, it's obviously perfect for the frigid winter we're currently experiencing. I love that big, oversize sweaters are in style these days. It's a great neutral, camel color so it can be paired with almost any outfit. I love a great versatile piece!

Tank top - Francesca's Collection
I'm pretty sure I bought this tank at Francesca's when I just happened to be buying some other stuff, but it's just a basic black tank that could probably be bought literally anywhere. It's just plain black and has a racer back. I wear it under sweaters or dark blouses during the winter for an extra layer of warmth!

Leggings - Forever 21
These are the same leggings I wear every time I post a look with leggings. Again, I'm pretty sure I've had them for like 5 years and they were like $8. You can't beat Forever 21's cheap prices, and hey, they've lasted 5 whole years! When it comes to leggings you can't really go wrong. I usually like to go with the cheaper option so I can splurge on other pieces.

Slippers - Minnetonka
I've wanted the Ugg version of these slippers for the longest, but they're far too expensive and I already have 2 pairs of Uggs and the Ugg moccasins; I couldn't justify buying any other Uggs. So I saw these bad boys for sale on Hautelook and decided to purchase. And I love them! They're super comfy and warm. The best thing about them is they have a very firm sole, so if you really wanted to, you could wear these out.

Glasses - Burberry
I've been wearing these so much lately since my contacts have really been bothering me. I'm so glad to finally have some statement glasses. I get compliments on them all the time, so if you're in the market for new glasses I suggest taking a look at the Burberry frames! They're lovely.

I finally learned how to use my camera with my tripod as you can see! No more mirror pictures. (Well, probably not EVER, but ya know.) Hope you enjoyed this fashion post and I'll be back tomorrow with my Sunday Funday post. Hope everyone is having a great weekend! :)

Beauty Tuesdays - BH Cosmetics Palettes

Happy Tuesday dolls!

It was a lovely snow day for me, and we actually didn't get the crazy 18 inch amount of snow they were predicting us to get. And my neighbor, God bless his soul, did all our shoveling so I didn't have to worry about that. I had a very relaxing day watching Scandal, reading Allegiant, and catching up on some blog reading. Also I made cinnamon buns, because really what else do you do when you're stuck in the house besides make extremely unhealthy snacks? :)

Onto the beauty products...

I was so excited to FINALLY get my BH Cosmetics palettes in the mail last week after waiting literal weeks to get them ordering through Hautelook. Don't get me wrong, Hautelook is one of the best shopping platforms ever created, but the anticipation was really killing me with these. But, at long last, they finally arrived. And my life pretty much felt complete.

AHHH, isn't she a beauty?! *heart eyed emoji*
I've been wanting one of these huge palettes for SO long. So when I saw these BH Cosmetics ones were on sale for practically dirt cheap on Hautelook I decided it was the best opportunity to finally get one. I knew that Nicole Guerriero uses BH Cosmetics products in her tutorials and they've been really amazing looks, so I knew I could expect a decent quality from this brand. I opted for the BH Day & Night 60 color palette. I loveee the variety in here. (Although I'm probably gonna use the warm/neutral tones for the most part because that's just what I do.) There's a mix of matte and shimmer shades as well, which is always a necessity in a palette for me. I'm excited to take a walk on the wild side and try some of the colors though - the turquoise and purple colors are definitely intriguing. I'll be sure to post some photos of the looks I create with this palette!

Since these palettes were so inexpensive I obviously had to snatch up a blush palette. I honestly just started wearing blush earlier this month - I would usually just opt for bronzing only. Now I've been trying out some soft contouring with bronzer and then popping a little blush on my cheekbones. I've been loving that look lately! I'm much more into the pinkier blushes and I've loved the ones in these palettes so far, they really brighten up the face! They stay put all day with a spritz of MAC Fix+ - so that's awesome. I was also thinking of using some of the darker and more bronzey tones for a slight contour. I'll definitely update if that works out. It would be great to get blush and contour shades out of this palette.

Overall I think these palettes are definitely great value, they're still really inexpensive (as opposed to Urban Decay/Too Faced/high end makeup brands) even at full price on their website. They have tons of palettes available there and I'm actually thinking about getting some more! I would recommend these to anyone that's on a budget, you get tons of product for a small amount of money. I call that a win! :)

Do you guys have favorite palettes that you swear by? I would love to hear what palettes and brands other bloggers are currently loving, I'm always looking to try new products.

That's all for today folks! I'll be back tomorrow (or later in the week) with a fashion post! I swear I actually have one planned for this week! Talk to ya soon!

Music Monday - From French Montana to Olly Murs

Happy Monday everyone! It's both happy and a tad bit concerning for me as I got out of work early today, but only due to Winter Storm Juno wreaking havoc on the North East. I can't lie though, it was great to come home and be able to take a quick nap! Please pray this snow isn't as bad as they're predicting - I don't know if my body will be able to take shoveling all that mess!

Anyway, back to the task at hand. I have some great new favorite songs to share with ya'll.

Bad B*tch - French Montana & Jeremih
I've been a fan of rap music on and off since the days when Lil Wayne was in his prime. (Lollipop anyone?) Every now and again I hear a rap song that I become infatuated with. Before this it was IDFWU by Big Sean. (So empowering!) Anddd now it's this song. While not being all that respectful of women, it's damn catchy and downright addicting. I've always been a fan of Jeremih as well, he always sings on great rap tracks.
Favorite Lyric; "Young, fly, G's up, pocket full of cash. Haaan."

Elastic Heart - Sia
I have to admit, Sia has grown on me quite a bit after launching onto the radio waves with Chandelier. What drew me most to this song was the lyrics. They're really relatable for me. Sia has a knack for producing super viral radio tracks and this one's no different, but it isn't just a catchy pop song, I feel it has valuable lyrical content. Loving Sia these days! The video is also nothing short of extremely interesting. I'm still sitting here trying to interpret it.
Favorite Lyric; "...and I wanted it bad, but there were so many red flags. Now another one bites the dust. And let's be clear, I trust no one."

Wrapped Up - Olly Murs & Travie McCoy
Anything British is amazing in my eyes and Olly Murs is no different. Olly Murs came onto my radar with his 2012 song Troublemaker featuring Flo Rida. I was hooked on his album Right Place Right Time for months afterwards. Catchy British pop songs - what more could a girl want?! Wrapped Up is a cute little song with a fun little rap break from Travie. (totally forgot about him, but hey I guess he's still out there making music) Been loving this song lately, I can never skip it when it comes up on shuffle!
Favorite Lyric; "Don't ever stop controlling me, I kinda like it when you bring me to my knees."

Talking Body - Tove Lo
Out of all the songs I'm mentioning today I think I'm most obsessed with this one. I love that it's a little naughty while still being totally pop-y and catchy as hell. I can't help but do a little dance whenever I hear this song. I've been loving every Tove Lo song I've heard so far, the Hippie Sabotage remix of Stay High is a jammy jam.
Favorite Lyric; "Love, give me love. Anything you want I'll give it up."

And that's all the musical selections I've got for today! Hope everyone has a great Monday night. And if you're stuck in this horrible blizzard situation please make sure to be very careful! If possible stay in and read all the blogs. Haha. :)
I'll be back tomorrow with some beauty products to show you. I'm still brainstorming what products I'd like to highlight - but I'm definitely excited to share some favs with you.

Sunday Funday - Baking & Ed Sheeran

Happy Sunday lovelies! Not so happy for me as NJ is in impeding snow doom, but whatcanyado? Anywho, I'm here to recap my not-so-interesting weekend for you. The snow and all around crappy weather has kept me indoors quite a bit, I'm not complaining though, it's always nice to have a relaxing weekend every now and then. I'm so often trying to cram as much as I can into my weekends when sometimes I really just need a break. Anybody else feel the same?!

So Friday night I just went to get my nails done (as I faithfully do every 2 weeks...) with a friend. On my fingers I opted for a bright sparkly blue - I've been wanting to do an electric blue for quite some time and I absolutely loveee the color. And for my toes I opted for a gray. I usually like to keep my toes pretty muted since I like to do such bright colors on my fingers. It's all about coordination people!

After nails we hit the liquor store right quick to pick up a bottle of Pinot Noir and then CVS to grab some Ruffles (my friends' and I's go to snack of choice) however, tragically, CVS didn't have Ruffles so we had to settle for Wavy Lay's like a couple of peasants. Just kidding. They were good all the same! Our newest addiction is watching old school Laguna Beach, I've bought the first two seasons on my Apple TV so we've been having nights of wine-induced nostalgia for the past couple of weekends. Not gonna lie, we passionately sang along to "Screaming Infidelities" by Dashboard. I mean you can't hear Dashboard and NOT sing along, that's just against the rules of being a teenager in the late 2000's. And then it started snowing outside and ruining my entire life.

Saturday morning the snow had fallen to about 4 or 5 inches and I was thus forced to do some shoveling which absolutely killed my body. My back is still sore from it! Needless to say with all the snow on the ground I couldn't manage to do too much with my day. Watched some Scandal, cuddled with my cat, the usual. However vh1 had a live showing of Ed Sheeran for Storytellers which pretty much made my night. So naturally I baked some brownies and watched Ed Sheeran perform. Because combining chocolate and my favorite artist is pretty much my version of heaven. It's amazing how captivating of a performer he can be even just watching in your living room! He's truly such a talented artist. He's blending of different genres is really unparalleled. I love whenever he plays "You Need Me, I Don't Need You" live because he always adds in so many covers of songs and it's amazing - he put in "I'm So Fancy" from Iggy Azalea  and "In Da Club" from 50 Cent. Pretty freaking cool if you ask me.

Also the sky looked really cool that evening and I have to post this amazing photo I took and edited of it. I'm so proud of it! If I was a painter or artist in anyway I would love to portray this type of scene, unfortunately I'm not really gifted in that way so I have to just settle for taking photos. It was even taken on my iPhone 5 - not my legit camera.

And then that just leads us to today, in which I didn't really do anything noteworthy. In the morning I caught up on that new vh1 scripted series "Hindsight" which is surprisingly pretty good. It's about a girl who somehow travels back in time about 15 years to the 90's and tries to figure out where she went wrong and overall try to do her life better. And obviously since it's taking place in the 90's it has a pretty rockin' soundtrack. Definitely a new fav! I did manage to make a pretty great dinner for my mother and I though - it was a recipe for oven baked fried chicken. I've been trying to make a different dish every weekend to broaden my menu horizons.

Anddd that is about all I have to share with you, my Internet friends, for tonight. It apparently is supposed to snow quite a bit in NJ tonight and the next couple of days so I'm quite nervous about it. But, hopefully, it isn't as bad as they're predicting and I can carry on with work and whatnot as per usual. Hope everyone has a lovely, relaxing Sunday night and a great start to their week tomorrow! I'll be back with some music for ya'll!

Surprise Saturday - Settling & Relationships (or lack thereof...)

I'm gonna drop some knowledge here and say that it really is true - if someone wants you in your life then they will behave like they really do. If someone truly cares about you, (in any manner really, as a friend or more so) they'll show it so much you will never have to question it. Never accept less than you deserve because you just want "someone." Don't be afraid to be alone or lose someone in your life that isn't really bringing much value to it anyway. Don't be afraid to be alone. The time that I've spent being single has been the most eye-opening and self-discovering of my life and I wouldn't really trade any of my experiences for anything. The good, the bad, the ugly.

[Also, I'm speaking in very general terms here though, I've never been the type of girl to have a huge group of friends - to me it is more about quality than quantity when it comes to all the relationships in my life. I like to have a few good friends that I truly connect with and care about than a bunch of friends that hardly know me and vice versa. I'm talking about anyone in your life who doesn't treat you the way you think you should be treated - just let them go. You don't need someone in your life who doesn't need you in theirs.]

There will be people in  your life that you like for more than they like you - and that's okay. It doesn't mean that there's something wrong with you if someone doesn't like you back, it just means that there's a reason you aren't meant to be together in any way. This is one of the hardest lessons I've had to learn. There have been so many people in my life that I cared for more than they cared for me, that I had to wonder - why? How can I miss the mark so much and like someone that doesn't feel the same? How could I have been so wrong? Eventually I just cut myself off from having feelings for people at all. I looked at everyone objectively and convinced myself not to care so that if someone took off I wouldn't be surprised. It took me a really long time to finally understand that some things just aren't meant to happen. I grew to learn to be happy finding a situation just wasn't going to work out - I mean I'd rather know earlier than later to prevent time wasted on both ends.

Everyone is looking for something different - there are people out there who want nothing more than the most serious of relationships, and then there are people out there who want the most casual of relationships. You have to remember, everyone's experiences are different and that leads them to want different things from their relationships. There will be someone out there who wants the same things out of a relationship that you do. BUT, that's not to say you'll find your perfect person and everything's going to be hunky dory. Relationships of any kind consist of compromise, but when you find the right person you are willing to work through the problems and difficulties because you know the good outweighs the bad.

It's been a long journey for me and seeing people (hell, even my own self) put themselves through horrible treatment just to have someone, anyone really, taught me to just wait. To me, it seems more logical to wait for the right person to come along than to put up with something I know I don't really want just to have someone there. Now I'm of course, by no means an expert in relationships. I just know how I feel and that I'd prefer to be as happy as I can in my life and I can say I truly enjoy being single. I love having time to hang out with my friends, to work on my blog and writing, to learn about my camera and get into photography, to read the books I want to, to spend time with my mom...the list goes on. I'm sure one day I will also be able to say I'm truly happy in a relationship as well...but, that day hasn't come just yet. :)

Beauty Tuesday - Harmon Haul

So I think my life has just become a series of hauls. But hey, I'm pretty okay with it! No hobby in my life has a higher priority than shopping, know what I'm sayin?

I don't know if there are Harmon stores all over the country, but I firmly believe there should be. I lose my mind nearly every time I go in this store. I'm like, okay I just need hair dye - $87 later...Haha. But seriously this is a pretty mild haul for me. I really wanted to get more makeup products but the hair dye set me back a little so I didn't wanna go too ham.

So here's all the shtuff I got.
Two boxes of Garnier Olia hair dye in Darkest Brown, because it's apparently quite a task to cover blonde hair with nearly black dye... A baby cocoa butter lip therapy Vaseline (this is a must in the winter, thank me later.) Hydro Silk Schick razor since I just got over the Intuition one and needed one without the soap around it to use with my Lush shaving cream. Listerine strips in cool mint, didn't even know they made those bad boys anymore but I sure am glad they do. Another random Vaseline, I always put it on my legs if I nick myself shaving, I feel like it has some sort of healing powers (even though I'm pretty positive it doesn't.) Hand warmers cause my place of employment is in fact an ice box. Lens cleaning tissues because there's nothing that annoys me more than a smudge on my glasses, NOTHING. Evian Mineral Water Spray - pretty sure this is just water in a can to spray on your face but I buy into these things. NYX BB Cream in Nude, I've been wanting to try a BB cream for a long time and being that I'm already an avid NYX lover I figured this was a good first choice. NYX Eyebrow Push-Up Bra, which I just tried today for the first time and I'm probably in love. I have pretty full eyebrows as it is, so I needed the highlighter portion of this more than anything and it's great! Even if you don't fill your eyebrows in or do anything to them like me. Lastly I got a few lip colors, I got a NYX soft matte cream in Tokyo, a really pretty light/nude pink, L'Oreal Colour Riche in 755 Spiced Cider and 600 Doutzen's Nude. Super excited about all of my purchases and if anything becomes a favorite I'm sure I'll be writing about it in Beauty Tuesdays to come!

I'll be back tomorrow (or later in the week) with my favorite #ootw. Have a great one kids!

Music Monday - From Meghan Trainor to the Biebs

Okay so I am super excited about this Music Monday because I finally have a bunch of new songs to share with you! Spotify stepped it up with it's Today's Top Hits playlist and I've been listening to it non-stop lately. I totally recommend it if you're in the market for some new music.

Home To Mama - Justin Bieber & Cody Simpson
I've been obsessed with this song since I first heard it last week. If you haven't noticed, the Biebs really gets to me. I just love his voice okay, I can't help it. I've also been a pretty big fan of Cody Simpson since last year. (Pretty Brown Eyes anyone?! Gosh, I love it.) I think I just love pop music guys. But anyway, this is a cute little pop/acoustic track. I think both of their voices are very complimented by acoustic guitar and the two of their voices together is kind of magic.
Favorite Lyric; "You got the pieces; you're my kind of perfect."

No Good For You - Meghan Trainor
Okay so I'm one of those people that was totally against the "All About That Bass" craze and wrote Meghan Trainor off as completely annoying. And then I was listening to the aforementioned Spotify playlist pretty absentmindedly and I'm like, what is this? I pretty much love it! Anddd it turns out it's Meghan Trainor. I put this song way above All About That Bass and Lips Are Movin'. This one is so catchy with kind of a reggae feel. I actually really like the message behind it too; she's kind of trying to warn a friend that her boyfriend is a douchebag - I mean we've all been there right?
Favorite Lyric; "That boy's no good for ya, you're way too good for him."

Also there's no official music video for this song, so I apologize for this weird music video.

#icanteven - The Neighbourhood & French Montana
I LOVE THIS SONG. I love the collab of The Neighbourhood (who sing that song Sweater Weather) with French Montana. I would have never paired the two together but it sounds amazing. I'm not a huge French Montana fan but the combination of singer/songwriter with rap is always something I can get down with. I hope this song gets some airplay because I really see it being a hit. Can't stop listening to it lately.
Favorite Lyric; "Shame on me you fooled me twice, and you said I wasn't just like anyone, but you treated me just like everyone, like everyone else."

Okay the last one is a little bit of a throwback...

I Was A Fool - Tegan & Sara
I've been a fan of Tegan & Sara for quite some time, I think they came out with Walking With a Ghost when I was in middle school! They weren't as popular then, but I'm really glad their popularity is growing as the years go on, because I think their music is really, really worthy of success. They not only have great voices, but great lyrical content as well. I rekindled my love for this song off their 2013 album Heartthrob, when I heard it on a random playlist I clicked on Spotify - couldn't be more thankful for it! I highly suggest checking out Heartthrob if you've never listened to Tegan and Sara. That album is fantastic and you'll be singing along to it in no time at all.
Favorite Lyrics; "But stand still is all we did. Love like ours is never fixed."

I really hope you guys like all of these songs and I've maybe opened your ears to something you haven't heard of before! I already have some ideas for next week as well. :) I love discovering and sharing new music, it's really one of my favorite hobbies. I hope everyone had a great Monday! Onward to the rest of the week. :)

Sunday Funday - Sangria & a Mall Haul

We've reached the tail-end of another Sunday guys! Thankfully I've got a three day weekend and will be off tomorrow as well - three cheers for three day weekends!

Onward to my weekend re-cap.

No surprises here, I ended up at Stagehouse on Friday night for dinner and drinks with two of my biffs. (Seriously I think I'd have a nervous breakdown if I went like two weeks without hitting this place up...) This time though, we decided to try a pitcher of red sangria, and it did NOT disappoint. I mean, what group of girls doesn't love to sit around gossiping, eating nachos, and sipping on some sangria?! That's a fantastic time to me. We also splurged and got the brownie sundae again - we were just going all the way in that night. :)

Saturday we had a birthday lunch for my darling grandmother, who I affectionately refer to as Grammy. We got a couple pizzas, my aunt made some delish apple pie and we had a cute little celebration. I love any time I get to spend time with my mom, aunt, and grandma. They're three of the most important people in my life and I don't know what I'd do with them! My gram was super excited about her birthday gifts and we had a few laughs over our lunch and some tea. I love when we can all get together and have a fun time. In fact, I really wish it happened more often, but I've realized once you start working full-time, your only free time really is on the weekend and you end up trying to cram everything into Saturday and Sunday and it doesn't lend you much wiggle room. But, you gotta make time and cherish it with your family!

After our little soirée I headed out to the mall with a good friend of mine. I needed to hit Sephora for a new moisturizer, the Aveeno daily moisturizer just wasn't cuttin' it for me in this dry, frigid weather. I was looking for something a little more heavy duty! ...But naturally I ended up buying a ton more things at a ton more places, because if you put me in a mall I'm just going to buy unnecessary things - it's a fact of life.

Okay so at H&M I got the cutes tiniest little sock-bun maker - I figured it would be a cute idea to do a half-up sock-bun with the rest of my hair down. I also got this nice, big comfy cardigan. It's like a camel/tan color, I like to go neutral with my cardigans so they can be as versatile as possible. Now don't judge me but I bought stuff from Delia's again, they're going out of business (I think?) so everything was like 50-70% off! Can't beat that deal my friends. So I got a basic pair of black skinny jeans and the besttt tank top that has a picture of Cinderella and says "#ootd" just thought it was absolutely perfect for me and I had to have it. Then we meandered into New York and Co. which isn't a store I usually go into, but we found a coupon on Retail Me Not for $25 off $50, so I snatched up these army green jogger-type pants and boot socks for $28, I love me a good deal. Haha. Anddd lastly at Sephora I finally got what I actually went for...and more. I got First Aid Beauty Face Cream, which was suggested to me by an associate after I expressed my dry-face concerns. I got a small container of The Righteous Butter from Soap & Glory that I've been wanting to try, a baby Glamglow (The Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment) because I'm just paying $70 for the bigger size - just not doing it because it's insane, and lastly with some of my VIB points I got the Pore Purifying Black Magic Kit by Boscia. I've been using the Night Hydration Boscia moisturizer for awhile now so I figured it would be a good opportunity to try some more of their products. Super excited about it!

Today it was rainy and gross so I just hung around the house watching Scandal and reading Allegiant, which I really need to finish so I can finally start The Untethered Soul. I've been dying to read it for quite some time! I went to Harmon's as well to pick up some more hair dye to go over my hair again as some of my blonde is attempting to peek through. (Also picked up some more stuff that may or may not be the basis of my beauty post for Tuesday...) Not sure when it's "safe" to dye my hair again - maybe I'll give it a couple more weeks. I'm really thankful to have another day to sleep in tomorrow, but I hope the weather is a little bit better! It looks like it should be around 40 degrees and sunny, but that could always change. Just hoping for the best! Hope everyone has a great start to the week. I'll be back tomorrow with my music post! I have a bunch of new songs for you guys, so I'm really looking forward to it!

Liebster Award!

So, I have been nominated for a Liebster award by the lovely Klaudia @ Glamblink. (Thank you so much for the nomination!) At first I was like, what on Earth does this mean? But after some googling, I feel a bit more confident about it. Basically, a Liebster award is given to new bloggers by other new bloggers in effort to boost marketing for both their own blog and their nominees. I love that the blogging community is so helpful and gracious to one another. There are several variations of rules but this is the set I am following from Klaudia;
  • Link the person who nominated you.
  • Answer the questions given by the nominator.
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers who have less than 200 followers.
  • Create 11 questions for the nominees to answer.
  • Notify all nominees via social media/blogs.

My questions from Klaudia;
  1. What is your favourite lipstick? Bite Beauty VIB Rouge Créme Lipstick. (I actually blogged about it here.) I think this is the absolute perfect red. I only wish it was a regular color and not just something special for Sephora VIB Rouge members! I have the tiniest little tube and I must make it last.
  2. What is your day to day make-up? I usually wear Bengal from the Anastasia Tamanna palette in my crease, and a combination of Soft Matte Mid-tone Tan and Creamy Matte Beige from the Smashbox Mini Full Exposure palette on my lid. I use L'Oreal Infallible The Super Slim liquid liner to line just the top of my lid with a very small wing, and NYX Wonder Pencil in light on my water line. For mascara I wear Makeup Forever Smoky Extravagant Mascara. For under eye concealing I wear Benefit's Boing concealer in light. Then I just bronze with Too Faced Beach Bunny bronzer. Topped with MAC Fix+ spray. (A daily must!)
  3. If you had to choose one clothes shop to ever shop in, what would it be and why? I would probably choose Express, because they have both casual and dressier clothing.
  4. What is the best book you have ever read? This is tough because I love reading. The best book I've ever read is probably Looking for Alaska by John Green. It has comedy, tragedy, sadness and self-fulfillment elements - it's magnificent. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is another one of my absolute favorites.
  5. What is your favourite beauty/fashion magazine? I actually don't really read magazines all that much, I prefer to read blogs and get inspiration from every day people. But if I have to choose I suppose I would choose Lucky. I very much enjoy browsing high end brands that I can't afford. Ha!
  6. What is the last picture you took of? I took a selfie in my cool new glasses! #aboutthatselfielife
  7. What do you value most in a person's character? Honesty. I pride myself on always being honest with others and very much need that in return in order to have any sort of relationship with someone.
  8. What is your favourite movie, and why? Without a doubt, It's Complicated. It contains the exact silly humor that I love so much. I adore Meryl Streep and her family in this movie seems so real. Steve Martin is absolutely hilarious and John Krasinski is adorable. I have watched this movie over 20 times and I will never tire of it.
  9. Can you solve a rubix cube? I definitely can not solve a rubix cube. (Although I haven't tried in years.) I did, however, think I was very clever as a child by taking the colored stickers off the cube and re-arranging them as if it had been solved and then telling my mother I solved it myself. LOL.
  10. What was your favorite birthday and why? I guess, by default, my favorite birthday was my 21st birthday, although I hardly remember the event. (Shots were taken...so many shots.) I was just back at college in September for my senior year, living with my best friends, and going out nearly every night. I look back very fondly on my memories of that entire year really.
  11. What are you going to do after you finish blogging? Probably going to read some more Allegiant before Parenthood comes on tonight at 10PM, can't believe it's almost all over!
My questions for my nominees;

On Wednesdays We Wear... Green Pants & Faux LV

Happy hump day my internet friends! The week has been going surprisingly fast, which is a great thing for me. It's terrible to wish time away, but I really am wishing winter away. I can't stand the cold weather - I need the sun and warmth!

Onto my #ootw! This is actually an outfit I wore last Saturday when I was out and about running to eye doctor appointments and out to lunch with my mother. So, this is much more of a casual look than the office appropriate looks I usually post about. I like to mix it up every now and again to keep things fun! Unfortunately I only have one photo of this look. I didn't realize I liked it so much until I was about to leave, so I only snapped one photo.

Sidenote; I think I finally learned how to use my camera properly - so I should be able to use my tripod to take some non-mirror selfies soon! Woo hoo!

Casual Saturday Errand-Running Ensemble

Sweater - Target
This off-white sweater is from Target. (I think it's the Xhileration brand.) It has the high-low hemline and two slits on either side towards the bottom. It's kind of a waffle texture, but doesn't lend much warmth - if it's very chilly I usually like to wear a cami underneath. I love to pair it with brown boots, I think off-white and brown look so good together.

Pants - Kohl's | LC Lauren Conrad
So I was super excited to finally wear my new pants! (Featured in my Sunday Funday post on January 4th) They're skinny fit, with a bit of a high waist - I'd probably call it mid-waist. They're pretty stretchy, which is a plus and definitely gives you more comfort than a pair of skin tight jeans. The downside, however, was that after a day of wear they stretched out a little too much and became a little baggy. I hadn't yet washed them when I wore them, so maybe the dryer will help out that situation. I sure hope so, because I think they're adorable!

Boots - DSW
I believe the brand of these is Matisse. I actually bought these at a DSW maybe 2 years ago. They've been my staple tall brown boots since! They have a couple buckles around the ankles and zip up the sides. I love these boots because you can dress them down (like I did here) or dress them up with leggings and a sweater or chiffon top, like I often do for work. They're super versatile, which is something I always look for in a boot.

Bag - Louis Vuitton Replica
Quite regrettably, that is not a real Louis Vuitton bag. (Although I do hope to get to a point one day where I can purchase a real one...) I bought this replica from Purse Valley. If you love designer bags, but don't love the price of them, I definitely suggest checking this site out. They have TONS of brands on there. It is 100% reliable, I can attest to that. I actually had a hard time placing my order (the issue was on my end with my internet) and had to call and speak to someone in customer service and they were nothing short of professional and very helpful! They do operate out of China though, so be prepared for quite a wait. I promise it's worth it though! I have zero complaints about my bag, and I even have the matching wallet. :)

Watch - Kate Spade, Monogram Necklace - Moon & Lola

I hope you all enjoyed this week's fashion post! I'm so sad I don't have more pictures of the clothes more close up for you, but I hope this will do! My main goal for this year is to work on my camera skills and bring better content to the blog as long as it continues to grow. I'm really looking forward to it!

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of this week and their weekend. Get out and do something new! Or if you don't wanna do that, stay in and start a new book. I'm actually hoping to finish the last Divergent book, Allegiant, this week and start The DUFF. I have so many books on my list, I need to get cracking!

I'll actually be back with a quick post tomorrow as I've been nominated for a Liebster Award! Super excited about it and I can't wait to nominate fellow new bloggers. :)

Beauty Tuesday - Bath Bombs & Cocoa Butter

Hi Everyone!

It's Tuesday, so you know that means we're talking beauty products today!

But first, I'd just like to thank everyone who's followed me on Bloglovin so far. I know that just over 100 followers isn't the biggest deal in the world, but I've only been a part of the blogging community since November, so this seems like a huge accomplishment to me! I hope to continue to bring interesting and worthy content to my readers - and please feel free to suggest any sort of topics. Seriously, thank you for taking the time to read my little ol' blog. :)

SO - onto the beauty products!

I know what's you're all going to think, "she writes about Lush every beauty post, homegirl needs to relax and branch out a little bit." BUT I just have to post about my favorite Lush bath bomb, it's just so cute!

Lush - Pink Bath Bomb ($4.95)
Lush's website describes this bath bomb as "vanilla bath time confection with saucy undertones." If there's anything I'm a complete sucker for, it's vanilla. Vanilla scents have been a staple in my life ever since I knew what perfume even was. Vanilla just has a warm and sweet connotation that brings me comfort. So what better than to relax in a bath with a vanilla bath bomb that turns your bath PINK. But really, how cool is that? This bomb sadly doesn't produce any bubbles so I had to add in my own Sephora vanilla bubbles, but the two together are relaxing magic. Totally recommend this to anyone who needs some relaxation in their life. Actually, scratch that, everyone needs some relaxation in their life. :)

Promise the next product isn't Lush. In fact, it's very much the opposite and so NOT high end. :)

This was the one and only chapstick to use when I was in high school circa 2007. I completely forgot about this stuff with all the new fangled lip products that have come out in the years since, but when I was faced with a bout dry lips that simply wouldn't heal, I decided to get back to basics. I was certainly not disappointed. I literally tried everything to heal my dry lips, from Vaseline to the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask - nothing was bringing enough moisture back into my lips. So, I just started applying the Cocoa Butter Stick constantly and I finally saw results after about a day! During the harsh winter weather I honestly have to keep some type of lip balm on my lips 24/7. If you live in an area that experiences cold temperatures I definitely suggest you do the same!

Those are my fav beauty products for this week. Hope you enjoyed and are inspired to try either of these products, I really do highly recommend them. And if you do try any, or you just happen to love them, leave a comment! I'd love to discuss beauty products with fellow beauty junkies. :)

I'll be back tomorrow with my favorite #ootw! (Outfit of the week) Have a great night!

Music Monday - From Fall Out Boy to Dashboard Confessional

Hellooo good people of the internet. Hope your Monday was just barrels of fun, cause I know mine was! *Note the heavy sarcasm* Nothing like waking up on a Monday morning to the cold and rainy weather...sigh, winter. Not to mention I've been feeling quite sniffly like a cold is creeping up on me for a couple days now. Gotta kick up the vitamin C intake!

ANYWHO - we're here to discuss some music, so let's launch into it.

Centuries - Fall Out Boy
I've been a fan of Fall Out Boy since "Sugar We're Goin' Down." Don't lie, you know that song is classic as hell. In fact, I saw Fall Out Boy on tour with Paramore this past summer and they were awesome! Pete Wentz likes to go off on little motivational tangents, but the actual performance is pretty sweet and Patrick Stump sings just amazingly live as he does recording. Centuries is definitely the kind of pop-punk tune to pump you up on a day (such as today...) where you don't feel like getting out of bed.
Favorite Lyric; "And this is supposed to match the darkness that you felt. I never meant for you to fix yourself."

Dreaming - Smallpools
I have to admit I'm a sucker for the electric pop trend, which is probably why I love this song so much. I jam out to it pretty intensely whilst at work. It's just a feel good, happy go lucky song that you can't help but bop along to when you hear it. I unfortunately can't comment on any other songs by Smallpools, who I've actually never heard of aside from this song. Maybe I should check out more of their songs since I like this one so much? I'll get back to you if there's more favs where this one came from!
Favorite Lyric; "The world is in your palm now, so take a breath and calm down."

You Know Me - Air Traffic Controller
This is such a sweet song, it almost makes me wish I was in love. But truthfully I just don't got time fo dat. But seriously, this is a really cute kind of singer/songwriter/alternative (can you tell I don't really know how to categorize this...?) song. I have always loved songs with two singers who are kind of having a dialogue back and forth, it makes it feel all the more real and tangible. So give it a listen, I hope you like this adorable song as much as I do!
Favorite Lyric; "You know how hard it can be to go on chasing something. This could amount to nothing when it's all said and done."

Throwback time guys!

Ghost of a Good Thing - Dashboard Confessional
Nothing epitomizes the early 2000's more than Dashboard Confessional. And as I mentioned in my last post, I've been watching Laguna Beach, so naturally they played this song during a montage of Stephen and Kristin and I got all the feels. This was my absolute favorite song by Dashboard Confessional and it was definitely my MySpace song for quite some time. Nothing like some nostalgia, click play!
Favorite Lyric; "Maybe it's love, but it's like you said, 'love is like a role that we play.'"

Hope you enjoyed this Music Monday's selections. I had such a fun time thinking of these songs and I'm really happy they aren't the same old songs that you hear on the radio every day. (Well, Centuries might be, but everything else is a little more alternative ;) ) I'll be back tomorrow with some beauty favorites!

Sunday Funday - Dark Hair & Spectacles

Hey guyzzz. Sadly we have reached the end of another weekend and are about ready to embark on a new (and full, sigh) week at work. However, I enjoyed my weekend and feel pretty recharged for the week.

Let's recap, shall we?

Friday night I kept it super lowkey and just headed out with a friend to get our nails done. I hadn't had them done all week so they were feeling pretty naked/weird. Does anyone else feel that way? I've kept my nails painted (be it regular nail polish or gels) 24/7 for like, years now. But I found the cutest color! It's super bronze/glittery in the light, but has a purple-y undertone in lowlight. I've never seen any other colors like it! After nails we headed to the food store to grab ingredients for Spinach Artichoke dip. We cooked that up right quick and settled in with some Arbor Mist to watch Laguna Beach for the night. We've reached season 2, so you know sh*t is getting pretty real. #teamLC

Saturday I headed out to an eye doctor appointment because it turns out I haven't been there in over a year and I'm blind as a bat. Haha. So I had an exam done, got some contacts and got fitted for a new pair of glasses. I've been wanting some new ones for awhile now - something a little more fashion forward, and I found the PERFECT ones. I was so excited about them! Burberry for the win!

I also decided I needed a bit of a change with my hair on Saturday as well, so I went super dark brown. I used Garnier's Olia dye in the color Darkest Brown. I was going for a pretty black look, but have been told by hairdressers not to use actual black dye on my hair, as it's the hardest to get out and dye over. (Although I don't know how much safer dark brown, almost black is, but I try!) I'm super pleased with how it turned out. It completely covered my grown out highlights and ombré so that was great. I'll probably go over it with the same color again in about a month to make sure all the blonde is covered and I'll stick with this color for the remainder of the winter. After our hair dying extravaganza we headed out to Stagehouse, because I literally never go anywhere else and had a bite to eat and a glass of wine. Just keepin' it classy these days.

Today I woke up at 8 am with the most horrible headache ever so I pretty much laid low for the day. Watched some more Scandal; I can't say how impressed I am with this show. Every episode I watch I think to myself "how do they come up with this stuff?" all the mysteries are so interwoven, it's truly amazing how well-written it is. Also tonight I made cinnamon buns that looked and smelled like absolute heaven. It's the little things in life, people.

Good luck with Monday! I'll be back with some songs tomorrow. Agh, I haven't even thought about my selections! Guess I'll think about that while I go hop in the shower right now. Haha. Here's hoping everyone has a good, productive week!

On Wednesday's We Wear... Preppy McPrepster

Hey dolls! And happy hump day! We're almosttt there - the weekend is in sight!

And so is my fashion post!

This week's look is another one appropriate for a business casual office environment. And it's super preppy anddd I totally love it. I'm really into layering cardigans over collared shirts these days, so many different combos! Also this necklace is one of my favorite things to ever happen to me. I ordered it on a whim when I got an email blast from Kate Spade about a 75% off sale - it was a STEAL. :)

Sweater - J.Crew Factory
I actually totally wasn't supposed to wash and dry this sweater, but I did and now it's a tad bit smaller than it was originally...but anyway it still serves it's purpose! Just a plain magenta-y pink sweater. It's partially wool so that's why I wasn't supposed to dry it and now it has a couple pulls around the edges of the sleeves and neck hole...but that's easily fixed with a collared shirt over the neck hole and sleeves folded!

Collared Shirt - Nordstrom
I pretty much did the same thing with this shirt so it's a little bit smaller than it's actually supposed to be. (Read directions people...read directions!) This is just a plain white collared shirt, it's a bit sheer so it really is only meant to go under sweaters, with 3/4 sleeves - it goes perfect with 3/4 sleeves of this sweater.

Skinny Fit Dress Pants - Macy's
I finally found petite size dress pants that are skinny fit (#thestruggle) at Macy's by a brand called "Alfani" - never heard of it but I absolutely love these pants. This pair is charcoal and I also own them in black and burgundy! They're mid/high wasted, skinny fit dress pants, with a pleat going down each leg. Totally office appropriate while being stretchy and comfortable.

Patent Wedges - Chinese Laundry
I love wearing heels to work, but actual heels are pretty much torture for your poor feetsies so wedges are my happy compromise. These patent nude wedges are relatively short at about 3 inches, but are super comfortable and easy to walk in. I swear by Chinese Laundry patent wedges - I have a pair of black open toed ones that are great for the summer time. :)

Earrings, necklace, and watch - Kate Spade

Hope you enjoyed this edition of On Wednesday's We Wear...! I hope everyone has a fabulous rest of the week. I'll be back Sunday with my weekend recap...although I have a strong feeling this horrifically cold weather will render me to my couch/bed all weekend. We shall see! Have fun out there guys!
